Are they really different (sound) from the modern S2 ones ?

The way you recognize the very early SII is from the exposed poles on the pick up. As far as I remember, only 149 were produced, I have the #103 from '84. The 30th Anniversary looks like mine, so I can save myself the $9000 price tag
