If you're trying to keep in a few hundred dollar limit then again I HAVE to recommend the Yamaha TRB1004. That bass can be found under 500 dollars and can do everything twice. They're not too hard to stumble across either.

And again if you're going to be dropping G a 35" scale, while it helps, does not make miracles. A good setup on a 34" with thicker strings and some work with the preamp (active pups recommended but not required) will earn the tone.

I believe the Peavey Grind 4 is 35". A much cheaper but well built option that would leave plenty of room in the budget for preamp and pickup upgrades should you choose to do so.

The ESP/LTD F series is- and I used one specificly for low tuning because of it. I assume you're doing heavy stuff with a tuning like that, and its got the right look for that. I had the F204, with EMGs (active 2 band). You can find em fairly cheap used too. I enjoyed mine a ton!

x2 on that, the F-series is a bit of a metal-looking beast but it ticks all of the boxes. I love how comfortable their necks are, too.

and very good point. Hmmm Well if i stick with a 34' scale i could get a 4 string and get it set up. The only thing is if i do my string gauge will remain rather heavy. I use .164 i believe.
Which i dont mind but it does make intonation harder since its thicker it tends to be sharper on the 12 fret with a smaller scale.

I i get a 35" i would be able to get a smaller gauge or the same if i want more tension but im sure the intonation would be much more persist.

I also recommend the Peavey Grind, I've never played the 4 string, but I absolutely love the neck on the 6-string. Plus, it's afforable enough that you can modify it to your heart's delight without breaking the bank
