35" Scale 4 string.

Whats up guys!

Im wondering if any of you know any 35" scale 4 string bass you could recommend me.

The reason i am seeking a 35 is because I am tuning to drop G.

I could just buy a 5 string. Since it would possibly be more common to find that scale length on a 5 string. But I dont use all my strings and feel it is unnecessary to have so many.

Im currently using a LTD B-55. Cheap 5 string with 34". But im happy for the price i paid for it.

I will be buying used.

Just get a Schecter 5. The neck is small enough that it'd be no bigger than a large-ish 4. If you really hate the extra string, you could always convert the 5 to a 4.

Isn't the Peavey Cirrus 35" scale? Or used to be, anyway.

Ibanez BTB basses are 35" scale

The US Peavey Millennium 4 & 5 are also 35" scale and are great basses.
I had a Millennium 4-Plus model, at one time strung BEAD, and it was great in that role.

The Yamaha TRB4ii is a 35 inch scale bass. IMHO these are seriously underrated instruments that you can (usually) pick up used at a pretty reasonable price. I have one and really like it.

Yamaha TRB1004. Flexible bass, great weight, great size. The Spector 435 is also great and assuming they don't have that tonepump crap anymore they'll bring out the drop tuning with ease.

Honest $0.02 here is that if you're dropping to G then just go up on strings and use your preamp to bring out the sound if you can. That's a lotta money for a little thump.

I owned a Modulus 4 and it was a great bass. I just can't do 35".

Modulus is a good option and older ones can be had for around $1k

Warwick vampyre dark lord. It is 35" scale. It was built to handle tuning to F#

The ESP/LTD F series is- and I used one specificly for low tuning because of it. I assume you're doing heavy stuff with a tuning like that, and its got the right look for that. I had the F204, with EMGs (active 2 band). You can find em fairly cheap used too. I enjoyed mine a ton!

I would also recommend the Spector 435. One caveat - the Euro bridges typically have fairly narrow slots and sometimes it can be hard to get a non-tapered 130 in there. Since you're going drop G, I'm guessing your gauge will be heavier than that. You'll either need to use tapered strings or likely file out the bridge slot.

I'm actually having a US neck-thru Spector built as a 35" 4-string for drop C, and I confirmed with them the US bridge slots on the 4-string bridge are the same width as the 5 and 6- string US bridges. I've never had a problem getting up to a 135 through those.

NOLA Bass is a great guy to deal with and that's actually my old bass he's selling. I know I used tapered strings on it for BEAD before I sold it to him. It's possible he's already made the bridge more low-string friendly.

Peavey made one... As did Ken Lawrence. Not much else out there.

If your budget allows for it, take a look at MTD 435. They don't make as many 4's as they do 5's and 6's, but they're out there in both 34" and 35" scales. Bass Central has some. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

I strongly recommend the USA Cirrus and Millennium if you can find. I have experience with both, and they handle detuning just fine.

LTD F series if Ibanez necks are too thin for you. Those are slightly wider spacing and thickness.
