3Leaf Audio Club - Episode 2

Hi all Wonderlove users, i found a new setting last night that I had not thought of before...
I used to run the mix full on the filter to get maximum effect.
Last night tried the mix on 50% and used the boost knob on the side to bring the filter slightly above the clean signal, what a wonderful sound, especially for a bit of filter slap.
The clean underneath really added a lot of punch without removing the juicy filter.
If you have not tried this I recommend giving it a go.
BTW I am running the effects loop with this, never used to.
After saying this, I am probably the only one in the world that has not tried it and just showing my ignorance in using effects...

Holy crow! I picked up an Enabler from the classifieds and have been rocking the headphone amp all night long! I'm not one to usually buy into hype but everything that's been said about this pedal is dead on the money. It is an amazing little box. Im recording some demos tomorrow night with my band and can't wait to use it in that scenario.
I know perfection can't be rushed but is there a rough release date for the 3Leaf Overdrive? Q3? Q4?
At this point, all we have to go on is a comment that Spencer made saying to "wait for [his] overdrive". There's been no other comment on it, and it may have just been a passing idea after he and Darkglass went their separate ways.
Ah yes you're right, I need to be more patient lol. I'm looking to replace my VMT and if there's a 3leaf option in the pipes Id gladly wait for it. Otherwise I'm thinking ss/bs mini or the much loved barbershop which I've yet to try.
I've had a VMT Deluxe since they were first released, and for the last few months have also had a Barbershop on my board. I'm at the point now where the VMT might get sold as I'm not using it. The Barbershop is fantastic for a light overdrive, and if you stick a boost in front of it it can make it even grittier.
I swapped my VMT for a Source Audio Bass OFD and haven't missed it a bit. I even bought a second one!

Prototyping an overdrive right now. I'm very slow but it's on the way.
Wonderlove expression switch is cancelled. I couldn't get it to work the way I wanted and there's no easy way around it due to the way the switching expression jack is configured.
Check out the Tedeschi Trucks Band live. Tim is blasting the Octabvre through large PA systems and it sounds great.
Regarding Octabvre tracking: I was surprised to hear from people that thought it didn't track well, so I did some tinkering and I have a little tweak I can do that seems to make the tracking more stable over a wider range of instruments. It made no difference with my instruments but shoot me an email if you think yours isn't tracking correctly with your setup. Of course the normal analog octaver rules apply here - you've gotta use good technique and they will never track "perfectly" so to speak. I've incorporated the tweak starting at serial no. 201 so check inside the pedal before contacting me.

Cool! Very excited to hear your take on what a bass overdrive should sound like... Any tonal goals you're trying to achieve or is it too early for that? I've been playing with the SS/BS mini for a few weeks now and have been pretty pleased with it but there is always room for more dirt.
Shame about the Wonderlove expression controller, it would be fun but not entirely necessary with my current project. I find I leave mine plugged into my expression pedal for some slow sweeps when the song calls for it. Sounds great with the Doom and a VMT in the loop.
I've had a few minor tracing issues with the Octabvre, mostly when using my passive P/J with roundwounds. Not sure if flats would help or not... Other than that, the tone is incredible and I dont see myself looking for another octave pedal.
I've had no issues at all with tracking on my Octabvre...other than a few dead spots on my bass (boo!). Tempted to get the fix done anyway, but I don't want to mess with a good thing!

The thing to remember about octaver tracking is that it will never track dead spots well, so 5-7th fret G string is going to be bad no matter what. Octavers can also wobble a bit on low frets which is normal. When I say that some people experienced bad tracking, I mean that none of the notes on the neck would track well. It seems to happen with certain basses. The first run of Octabvres tracked perfectly with my instruments but the F Bass crew told me they were having issues with their basses.

There will be multiple overdrives with different goals. The first one is going to be a new spin on a familiar sound.
I've never understood why that's a common dead spot (or at least a tough one for octavers) on many basses. Can anyone explain, or point me at an explanation somewhere else if it's considered off-topic here.
