Somewhere in this or the last 3Leaf thread, Spencer talked about how he didn't enjoy building compressors, hence the limited PWNZOR run. I recall someone asking about future versions and he said he'd rather put his time into projects/pedals he was more enthusiastic about...

That's a bummer, but I'd rather him build units he's inspired to make! I really like 3Leaf Audio's take on classic synth sounds/designs so I'd love for more units that allow the same magic. My Doom -> Moog MF-101 is identical to a Moog synthbass.

I've had the EHX Small Stone (big-box 90s), Source Audio Lunar, and now the EQD Grand Orbiter. The EHX was cool, but limited in capabilities, and a space-hog. The Lunar sounds great, but it had too much tweaking for my taste. The Grand Orbiter fits the bill perfectly for me. It can be warm, subtle, and supportive with just a bit of "movement", but it can also get weird/intense. It takes distortion and fuzz very well too. There are actually a number of good phaser options for bass...

Phasers add a whole ton of dynamics to your sound when done well, and I think it really helps your bass cut through the mix when you have a slower speed set. Having a slow, whirly warble that goes up and down the frequency range is really helpful to make your bass lines sound "alive", and when you play quick staccato riffs it makes each note pop since the phaser's hitting each note differently.

I think chorus and phaser are the most usable bass effects, even more so than overdrive.

I have no doubt that phasers are many and varied, but what do you USE it for? What types of effects, songs, music styles, etc.

Doh - reading comprehension failed me there.

I use it for a number of style. Adding some texture to more open ended jamming, ethereal/spacey breakdowns in songs, stack it with fuzz/distortion for heavier stoner-rock type stuff, or adding some modulation and motion to lines that require synth bass (octave > filter or fuzz > filter). For the latter, it just adds some depth to the lines so they don't seem sterile...

It's also a great way to add some shimmer to bass lines or chords high on the neck. It sort of makes them pop...

The Dunlop pedal works really well for me! But I'm sure any one is fine.

Edited to say that it is really fun to use an expression pedal, as it eliminates any use of the attack, delay, and sensitivity knobs, which makes it a whole other animal!
