3Leaf Audio Club - Episode 2

No rest for Spencer, build build build! But seriously, 3Leaf is the best. Does the PWNZOR still have a noticeable effect with the B3K on as well? I've heard that by their nature, overdrive pedals do some compressing. So would that be like compressing the signal twice? Or do they work perfect together to give a driven sound with smooth dynamics?

I liked the sound of the B*K with a compressor in front of it. Wasn't a PWNZOR, but, sounded good.

What's up on the drawing board next Spencer? You going ahead with the octave you've been tempting us with for a while? After a well earned break, of course!

I have a few things in the works but I'm not sure which one will be ready next. My work with Darkglass keeps me pretty busy, but I'm going to try to have a new pedal ready for NAMM.

That will work fine. Overdrives compress by clipping the signal while compressors compress by literally pulling the volume up and down. Try a compressor before or after the B3K and judge for yourself.

Question for GR2 owners. Do any of you use it as a buffer instead of true bypass?

I'm wondering whether or not it would make sense for me.

My chain is currently like this:

Bass
EBS Multicomp (TRUE)
3Leaf GR2 (TRUE)
Loop from GR2
Boss OC-2 (BUFFER)
MXR Bass Octave Deluxe (TRUE)
SFX Micro Fuzz (TRUE)
Xotic BB Preamp (TRUE)
Loop from GR2
TC Elec Corona Chorus (TRUE)
TC Elec Polytune (TRUE)
Amp

Thanks!

Also, cannot wait to get my hands on a "You're Doom" in the next few weeks. :hyper::hyper::hyper:

So, this answer made me think a little.

"But I can already use my pedals in the loop without turning on the GR2".

So I checked.

I'm already in Buffered mode. Ooops!

Thanks for all of the help guys. Much appreciated!

Right! The only issue is when you do have it in buffered mode, your blend will effect the amount of signal from the pedals in the loop. Great if you have dirt in it- you can retain both your dynamics AND your low end, with the filter on or off. I only have a few dynamic pedals in my loop (PWNZOR, Freeze, volume pedal), so I usually use it completely wet, so I have my full effected signal all the time.

If the blend is at noon, for example, my volume pedal will only cut the effected signal when all the way down, thereby NOT muting my signal as I do with it all the way wet. I think that's clearly written....

I just installed The Enabler on my board... gotta say it's going to be a difference maker on a couple of fronts. 1) I can now practice at night (after 9:00). It truly is a super headphone amp. And 2), it's a damn good pre/EQ too. I'm going to start leaving the amp at home for my rehearsals in cramped studios and run through the studio monitors. It will also cover as a back amp at gigs...

Mine is now in the country as well! Hoping to get it sometime next week, but the post office says 6 to 30 days lol.

Now I just have to deal with the fact that MrExcane's video is making me gas for the Proton (even though I the music I play never uses envelope filters lol); it sounds soooooo good with You're Doom!

Just ordered a proton...have never tried an envelope so though it would be a good one to start out with. Was tempted to get a you're doom but I'm so happy with my TAFM I can't imagine replacing it. I'll wait and see what everyone else thinks about it before I grab one
