Looking forward to seeing some dirt cheap Animas in the parts classifieds

Oops! Had it backwards, it remains clear as mud for me still. The whole thing is too goofy for me.Product page says Red is more HiFi sounding, and Blue less HiFi and more Rock and Roll oriented.
Price for Preamp modules alone is the same, $149 and Kit with harness and knobs $222 for both, leading me to believe that to get the Blue with Pedal combo, you have to buy the pedal, BOTH Red and Blue modules, and the harness knob kit for $633
Otherwise you can only get Pedal + Red kit for $555.
Makes my head hurt.
I mean, isn’t “not loving it” basically the same as “broke”?! I mean, I only play like 150 gigs a year with itIf it aint broke, dont fix it.
I went through some mental gymnastics trying to justify this and no amount of rationalization can reconcile spending $222 on a preamp i did not want or need until i read the goofy email. Lasted about an hour. Also- if you want the preamp, just wait another week after delivery. There may be 50 of them between here and the Verb for $100.I mean, isn’t “not loving it” basically the same as “broke”?! I mean, I only play like 150 gigs a year with it![]()

Would I like to try the preamp? Sure! But not through being semi-tricked into ordering it, like WTH.
On a side note, DANG that Miami color scheme on steel looks like.. one of the most beautiful Octabvre ever ?
Let’s put the bitter talk aside for a minute and appreciate these. I am so happy about the first 3 colors so far.View attachment 5174208
Truthfully? The whole operation looks like a clown outfit. Zero consistency, seeming lack of commitment, products have lettering that rubs off and everyone still raves about it. To me, its kind of like the Emperor’s New Clothes. To me the worst part is forcing a bundle on a buyer AFTER the fact of saying the drop is for an Octabvre with no other mention of a bundle. If prior to the first announcement of the drop he laid out the bundle plan then fine, so be it. But to be set up for one thing and then fleeced with a forced add-on the day prior is poor optics.
To me, the funniest thing here is that many MANY of us would not entirely complain buying a 3 Leaf second hand on Reverb for $500 or $600 in 2023. It looks like today’s equilibrium price.
Look at the last DOOM2s sold on Reverb. Many sold for 900/1000…
For less than that, you have a preamp (that looks very interesting on top of that !)
And the pedal is not a used one.
And there will be less competition when they will be up for sale.
Scammers are selling for $1000. Some people buy and feed the scammers.
And the brand new pedals sold out in less than a minute. There is a toxic market behavior that does not support the producer.
I am not that surprised the model eventually adapts.
And you know what, at $500 there is still room for profit !!!
I am sure some will still sell for $900 or $1000 in a month.
While I would not be happy to pay a higher price too, I am always happy to support a small business I like.
Instead of telling how he should run his business, maybe we should start to reconsider our purchasing behavior.

Im not even sure I believe Reverb prices anymore. Could easily be people “selling” them
i hear that, and thats great for him. I bought my first 3 Leaf pedal ages ago, hes out there climbing mountains and living his best life, and im here on a couch, so i have no credibility here. I bet you that tomorrow at 11:02, every one of these pedals will be sold, so good on him.Continuing love from folks like Tim Lefebvre (namesake of the Octabvre) pretty much means Spencer can do whatever he likes, I imagine. They're definitely some of the 'hippest' pedals to have, from what I can tell. I don't think he's hit a Fulltone moment, so folks might as well resign themselves to the Emperor's whims. Based on this and other emails he's sent out, I really don't think he cares what anyone thinks. He makes what he makes, charges what he charges, sells out every batch, and heads to the mountains.![]()
I used to have one of these when I was a kid.Buy the pocket fisherman and get the fish scaler, too…
Would the Red Pre drop into a Lakland 55-02 and still work with the pickup splitting going on with that bass? I like the pickup splitting options but I’ve never loved the preamp tone.
