3Leaf Audio Club - Episode 2

Finally got around to trying my Enabler as a front end into my Alembic F-1X: marriage material! The mid eq band on the Enabler seems to drop right in where the mids on the F-1X tone stack drop out. Serious punch. Grunt, even. From an Alembic preamp!

Love that Enabler. So happy I sprung for it.

I'm running the Enabler in my F-1x as well! How have you set the mids and switch on yours?

Well I'll be! Mid switch is in down position, and knob is at about 2 o'clock. Haven't had a chance to run it with the band rig, but it seems to add just the right bit of beef in the right place. I've been using a one-band parametric (EWS BMC) for this purpose, but the Enabler's mid frequency seems to sit in just the right spot, as well as offering the other two shelving controls and switches.

Haven't yet tried this with the stage rig in live rehearsal. We will see.

I just got my Pwnzor the other day. It's #29. I'm totally drinking the Kool-Aid now. Ill take a # please.

Finally got my Enabler. I've had the weekend to play with it and this things is awesome! Almost perfect and pretty much what I was looking for. I'm only nit picking here, but the only thing I would say is that it does seem to struggle a little on high impedance reference headphones, which Spencer wasn't sure about anyway. They can drive my HD650's to loud volumes, but when I have music going through the aux, the soundstage on the headphones aren't as open as they are with my headphone tubeamp. In any case I'm not trying to do any analytical listening when I'm practicing anyway. It does work fine when I have it hooked to my headphone amp, but I don't think I'm really gonna need to use it for practice since it gets plenty loud with my HD650s. Plus I do have lower impedance headphones that I use when practicing.

I love how natural the enabler keeps my bass sounding, which is the most important thing to me. Definitely a keeper!

I apologize if I missed this in the first rendition, but are there any samples of the Enabler up? I'm interested in hearing how the gain sounds on it.

If my band does any touring overseas, I'd like to just take an EQ/DI instead of the whole pedalboard (which is mainly dirt). It's down to the Enabler and B7K.

The Enabler doesnt add any high gain or distortion, it is a clean preamp style pedal, it just enhances and eqs your signal and doesnt add in any distortion.

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed] are some Enabler sound clips. Yeah, it's clean; no dirt. But it's got gain up the yin-yang.

This is great stuff - thanks for passing along what's been working for you with your F-1x. I've run the Enabler into it and through my Fearful rig at "bedroom" volumes and been quite pleased with the results.

Coincidentally - I actually have used my Enabler several times as my preamp to drive my Crown --> Schroeder at a number of rehearsals. And it's sounded great - but I've needed to use the Enabler's midrange controls to try and dial BACK the inherent midrange honk on my Schroeder cabinet...which is why I'm selling the cab. :crying: Seems like a waste of a great EQ on the Enabler just to sound like "me." I've definitely come to appreciate the relative transparency of other speakers...which is why I love the "what you put in is what you get out" Fearful rig.

Let me know if you're interested, I can pass along some additional info on how I've got the EQ components staged within my rig.
