$4.30 a gallon? So what....

$4.30 is a bargain.

I filled up last night and paid $7.65 a gallon. In seven years of living here, I have never seen it as cheap as $4.30. The cheapest was $5.60.

I had 1/4 of a tank in my Smart ForFour (not available in USA) and it cost USD75 to fill it up.

Enjoy the cheap gas.

What was it the Onion said this week?

"Petroleum prices rose $10 a barrel today on a report that prices were going to rise $10 a barrel."

I still drive to the subway station every day, about 15 miles round trip. I'm getting 22-26mpg overall, and it's about as short a trip as you can make to justify running the car at all, since short trips tend to be hell on exhaust systems. There's one stretch of four lane highway each way too, so not laike it's all stop and go.

This is what I drive all day. It gets around 6 mpg. I've been putting about $950 in it every 2-1/2 days or roughly $.80/mile. Diesel was $4.76 this morning.

I'm just glad it's not my money. :rollno:

BTW, that fuel tank under the door holds 120 gallons, there's another on the other side.

If Israel attacks Iran, things are really going to get out of control. Watch the news, it could be interesting. I don't want to make this political but if it happens, we could be riding bicycles for a long time :eyebrow:

Too bad the US gets 75% of its oil from Canada and Alberta is producing at about 50% of capacity. Honestly, prices would go up, but the US wouldn't be "out" of oil.

BTW anywhere I have to go in town I ride my longboard and can get across two faster than a car. I raced my dad across town, and beat him easily.

I've always been impressed by the efficiency of diesel trucks. I've seen Hummers and muscle cars that get worse fuel economy than some big rigs. Driving around WOT everywhere in my Duster can easily put me in single digit gas mileage territory, but for the most part I only use it for local errands... so I'm not spending that much extra on gas.

uh uh. America may get 75% of Canada's oil exports or something but Canada is nowhere close to providing 75% of the oil imported to America.

As you can see from this link about 50% of our oil imports come from the Western Hemisphere. We get almost as much from Mexico as we do from Canada so Canada is probably closer to providing something like 20 to 25% of our oil:

+1 I was gonna 'splain it to him last night but I was too tired to make any sense. The universe doesn't actually revolve around Canada :p :hiding:
