45-100 recommended for dropped d?

Govinds, please don't take that post too seriously. There are people here who obsess over string tension feeling the same on all strings. The most important thing is how your strings sound, not how they feel. 45-100 will give you a very balanced sound, especially from D'Addario nickels. Just try it out, and if you don't think it works with drop D, see if you can buy a .105 as a single.

My post should not be interpreted as a prescription. The intension was to give the OP some insight in the differing tensions across the board, like: "Did you know that....". Just see it as an advice from someone who has tried many different strings and gauges and wants to share this with colleague bassists. I don't have an equal tension obsession. I prefer to keep the differences at a moderate level, as, to my opinion, it increases playability. The B-string on my bass is also a little looser then the rest. So please don't take that post too seriously, as it wasn't meant to be so. It is a friendly advice. :)
