4x10 speaker suggestions for double duty.

My traynor YRM-1sc has a few blown speakers, so I was going to replace all 4. This is the combo 4x10 unit. I would love for it to handle my bass at least at lower volumes. This is similar to a blackface bassman, or tryanors bassmaster. Additionally do not mind tailoring it some electronically to handle the bass a bit more.

What speakers would you guys use in this thing for a clean vintage jazz tone, for bass. Something that can handle the lows better without getting buzzy and farty. I have an active j bass with early active EMGs in it. ...after changing those speakers could I expect it to work as nicely for guitar? Or am i asking for too much of a compromise. Additionally, this is an open cab, like this one. I can close it up and mod it too if needed. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
Thoughts???

Thanks!

Something that wont get buzzy or farty will significantly lower the sensitivity of the available volume your use to getting from the factory eminence.

Probably just stick to the more guitar oriented design

Of the six million guitar type speakers that Eminence makes. In 10" format the Cannabis Rex has a dam flat response and good sensitivity. Compared to the other squaky typical guitar speakers.

It's a open back guitar type speaker

Thankyou, that makes sense... I had not thought about it. Less articulate at low volume...

Those look pretty good, the thing is, this amp has always been dark and a bit too heavy in the low end with almost everything. Even my strat, which has fender CS 56 pickups is way bass heavy with the bass anywhere after 10 o clock, that could be modded out though.
The data sheet speaks of the cannabis rex being good for taming bright amp and guitar, that is not my case.

What about mixing speakers, like a pair of two different kinds, or can they cancel each other out?

Thanks!

These speakers are now legal in Canada! :D

“Hello TBers. I’m getting a buzz.
I wonder if this is the amp, speakers, loose cab bracing or something else.”

Possible helpful posts: Get new friends. Step away from the bong. Stop pretending you have a medical issue. Share your find. Move where it’s legal. Hum along with the buzz. Find something sugar laden quick. Don’t drive. Stay in school. How many times can you listen to Ina Gada Da Vida? Stop pretending you play better.

What?

Exactly for dual use around the house you could eventually find good matching used Quad of 10 inch speakers for guitar. And just buy a fun used 1x15 bass cab and run it off the tube amp.

Easier find 12s but could even transplant some 10s from cheap used amp.

It's alot money throw at a combo buying new

Fender did the super champ with 10" speaker. So you often see pretty new factory type speakers for sale on the bay.
Usually 15 to 25 bucks

Just usually search for fender champ x2 10" this is for guitar. It's a open back design only so much you can do.

The brown/gold eminence factory speakers are not that bad

A simple used Ampeg 1x15 would be fun to run with the tube combo head for bass

Thankyou guys! So now... i am leaning on just getting some speakers more in the vain of what it originally is meant for, no cab mods, and getting a used cab off CL to run with it. I probably will follow suit with looking for those champ sreakers and trying them over the ones that are ripped, or i'll glue them with coffee filters (like i have done in the past) for the mean time.
The idea of it being a dual purpose for home mainly was coming from a space and stuff constriction, another cab takes up more space and has to have somewhere to live.
