5 Gigs next week!

Just looked at my calendar and noticed that I have five gigs booked for next week! It's gonna be a crazy week but I am looking forward to every measure!

It's festival season around here so this time of year it tends to get busy. Last May we had 3 different festival gigs in one weekend. I love it when it's busy!

Congrats! It may be festival season already in Texas but up here in the Dakotas we're still trying to crack 50 degrees.

Got an outdoor gig the end of May and at this rate I'm about ready to start practicing with gloves on.

Cripe! We just finished a run of 4 shows in 5 weekends and we consider that 'busy'.

Now we have most of May off, play back to backs on 5/31 and 6/1 and go on hiatus until August. The only exception in June/July is a private party at the end of June. Thats gonna be a long 2 month dry spell but our guitarist already had the bulk of his vaca time scheduled prior to joining the band last November.

I love those. My record so far is 16 gigs in 5 days, with four gigs on a couple of days, basically running from gig to gig, cutting sets short to get to the next gig, etc. Its mad but I absolutely love it. My wife thinks I'm nuts.

The income boost is welcome too.

WOW ! That's extreme !

I have had three in one day a few times and that was really pushing things. I just didn't like it. The reason being I felt like I had to "save" myself for the later gigs so I didn't really go all out on the earlier ones. That was usually true though because attendance was always sparse at the early gigs, unfortunately. Regardless, money is money and if it's working for you then, very cool ! :)

Well the dust has all settled and I made it through the frenzy of last week without a glitch. The last 3 nights I used a newly acquired, pre-owned Ampeg SVT 7 Pro & 410HLF rig, which sounded great and performed flawlessly. The first night on that rig we were in a hotel ball room with approx 400 people in the audience...pro sound support, staging and lights...when I got the venue specs I wondered if the one 410 cab would be enough so I loaded an extra cab in the truck just in case, but ended up not bringing it in. The one 410 was perfect. I did the entire week on the same bass...Sadowsky NYC JJ4. But by the end of the week I was ready for a couple of days of downtime!
