5-string alternative to Jack Casady

    The title pretty much explains what I'm after.

    I know there are aspects to the Jack Casady that are exclusive such as the impedancy transformer and the isn't there some kind of clever construction to do with the soundboard (those who understand, please explain:)).

    I know I'm never gonna get completely there, but whatever's close will definately be a start. It's the tone I'm after - woody - but not thuddy. Those who've played one will know exactly what I'm talking about.

    In the end I want a fretless but I've defretted before and I can do it again, low-impedance pickups can also be sorted out.

    What 5-string can get close acoustically to the Jack Casady?
