5 string bass questions

it depends on your scale length and string gauge IME.
Lighter gauge means you can PROBABLY tune a low B higher 2-3 steps (c#).
Be careful about breaking your strings.
And know that if you do that, the string will be under alot of tension so it will be harder to play, do string bends on, ect.

Ive had good results getting my E down to Db tho, so thats what Id suggest doing.

I really like the MTD Z5 and I'm simply wondering what else in the 1k price range can offer 35" scale, 19 mm spacing and 24 frets. I like my Carvin LB75, but when playing slap bass its hard to keep it clean with the standard neck on mine. The Carvin Icon doesn't offer 35" scale as far as I can tell.
