I bought this mim Fender Deluxe Active Jazz brand new with Fender gig bag for $475.00. I gig with it
I have recorded with it. I have alot of other basses including a custom Modulus, but I just love
the different tone's I can get from this Bass.I
have not had any problems with it at all.

I also second Treena's advice. However, if you feel that it is imperative to change your bass I would recommend Yamaha, Peavey, or Ibanez in that order.

I do not agree with all this dont change, play it safe bull. You need to be able to play any Bass
anywhere at anytime. In studio situations and live. Some studio's will have basses there and if
they dont like the sound of your Bass or Basses
they will want you to play the ones they have there, and there not going to have your favorite strings or your set-up. You should DEFINETLY
get a new Bass before going in the studio,it just
may inspire you to play better and or come up
with different ideas.Just as an example I was called at the last minute to fill in for a rock/
blues band this past saturday night, they called
me at 8:30 I was just about to walk into Wal-Mart
I did not even have a Bass with me, they said no
problem I could use the Bass player's who did not
show. He had some old MM Stingray with strings
that were Total crap,way higher action than I like
and some Hartke 200W Combo I never had even seen before. And I had only played with the Guitar player before, and did not even know the other band members, during the performance the singer
shouted out,"Yeah listen to that Bass" and the drummer wanted me to join the band.

Well, You can get a Used Lakland Skyline 55-01 for $500 (if you are lucky) to $650, right now Musicians Friend has them Brand new for $699.

Nowadays they are bolt on necks but you can get used ones I believe they were Spector 2000/5 models which are neck thru (I own one of the REX2000/5 basses from that series - as well as a Czech Built NS5CR)

Seconded. These are great basses, I bought an NS2000/5 neck-thru earlier this year and I'm not regretting it one bit. The Q5 bolt-on model is very nice too.

All good suggestions. I just don't like the Ibenez to much. The Spector, or active Fender's are good and for sure in that price range especially used.

ok...i went to guitar center today. The two 5 strings I liked best(and can afford) are BTB 405 and the Spector Q5. They did not have a Jazz Deluxe 5 string but I played the 4 string and i thought it sounded like crap. They didnt have any of the ESP basses so i will have to go somewhere else to play that. Thanks for all your opinions

I have a Spector Rebop 5, it's awesome! I like the Fender 4's but the 5's string spacing is too much for me.
