Hey guys. I have a 2003 fender standard 5-string jazz bass (the kind that had the S-1 switch, but mine was before the S-1). I'm thinking of replacing the pickups with basslines ( http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/basslines/progressive-1/quarterpound_fo/ ) and I don't know what to do about a preamp. I play alot of reggae, ska, and rock (90's, brit-rock, modern alternative). I had a few ideas:
1 order one of the older style J-Bass control plates and go with a 5 string version of the stack knob deal
2 get a volume blend bass/treble (stack) 2 band preamp, b/c I don't want to have to drill to make a side jack (but i'm pretty sure the pickups are passive, so that may cause a problem?)
3 if anyone knows of a 3-band eq that's arranged in 3 knobs, that would work with these pickups, please please let me know.
Pretty please help me out guys. I've saved up for a while, and I got a steal on this bass, so $$$ isn't a huge issue, but I'd rather not blow the bank.
