Double Bass 5 string mutes

I don't own a 5 string, or 5 string mutes, but every 5 string play I know uses a normal 4 string orchestral mute, between the D and A strings like they usually would. The idea is they add mass, dampen the vibrations, and change the sound, so I don't think there would be much of a difference between a 4 and 5 string for that purpose.
As for practice mutes, I'm assuming you mean the huge rubber ones that go over the entire bridge? Again, the same ideas should apply, although I am not sure if the string spacing would be a problem. If you can take your bass to a shop and try one to see if it fits, or talk to them before ordering one and see if they will accept a return, that's likely your best option.

While I don't play a 5-string, this'll work for it.
I took an Ultra practice mute (the big rubber one) and sawed off the ends so there is just the three prongs in the middle left.
I put it on half way when the part calls for a mute. I jam it all the way down when I use it as a practice mute. It works great.
Plus, it goes on and off silently and the friction of the rubber allows me to put it on the edge of the stand if I need to put it on-and-off repeatedly/quickly.
You could do the same and just put it on the upper or lower strings. Or, you could get two mutes and saw off one end from each so that it goes over the whole bridge it you really want to cut down the sound for late night practicing.
