5 String Question

Does anyone ever tune their 5 string to Drop A? So that would be AEADG.

Some metal songs are played in drop A/A standard on a four string and most of the notes are played on that low A string, so it would be pretty easy for me to transpose the rest that might venture onto the E or the high A string.

The bass and strings in question would be an Ernie Ball Music Man Special 5, string with regular slinkys (45-65-80-100-130).

Just wanted people’s thoughts and general consensus on this is all.

also - some songs I play are sometimes in Drop C or Drop C#. Now I was thinking of doing the above (Tuning to drop A on the B) and then using a capo on the 1st or 2nd fret depending on the song. However an alternative route would be to potentially tune the low B up on or two steps depending on the song. What do people think the best option here would be? I’m personally leaning more towards the capo idea. Fwiw in some instances I would just transpose a song onto standard tuning on the 5er - however, some songs require that open low C or C# either for droning (this No One Knows - QOTSA or Heart Shaped Box - Nirvana) or fast pull offs (think BYOB - SOAD).

Again, any thoughts would be very welcome.
