I think they did, but that one is definitely not stock...

The string spacing was stupid tight on the 5s they made as well.

They did make a few five-strings, but this ain't one of them. The seller says that it's a "custom mod", and like bassbenj mentioned, the back of the headstock clearly shows how he removed the original tuners and added five of those lightweight v-shaped tuners. Basically lowers the value by a long sight, IMO. Dude's never gonna sell it for that much, I would bet.

Its a def nay. You can tell by the back of the headstock that it used to be a 4. The bridge isnt stock either. Guys asking way to much for it.

This one looks like a convert from a 4 to me. If you look at the picture of the headstock with the original screw holes, it looks like there were originally 4 tunners (16 holes, 4 screws/tuner)....i could always be wrong of course.

Ric5 should be along soon and confirm...

I know it's a mod, that's very clear. I thought there'd be an uproar of oohs and ahs though, because it is a very well done (if not properly disguised) mod. And yeah, calling Ric5, calling Ric5.....

Ric 5strings have 3 on the top where that one has three on the bottom .

Doesnt look all that well done imo. Hacking up any good instrument like that isnt all that great imo. It would have been better to get a diff neck and do it that way.

I swapped out the original saddles on mine with a new blank set of saddles which were then cut for wider spacing for the right hand. It worked pretty well. I wouldn't mind a little more space yet, but I can do everything I need to on it now.

Usually throwing 5 strings on a 4 string bass leads to tight spacing. You can only go so wide with the stock neck. Maybe not to tight for you but it would be for a lot of others.

Ha, didnt even give that a thought (im just used to bolt on basses).

In that case i would have at the very least filled the holes on the headstock and probably used different tuners..
