In that case i would have at the very least filled the holes on the headstock and probably used different tuners..
Usually throwing 5 strings on a 4 string bass leads to tight spacing. You can only go so wide with the stock neck. Maybe not to tight for you but it would be for a lot of others.

That is one of my conversions ... I don't remember which customer it was for. I have done a few fireglo 4003 4-2-5 conversions.
Here's another one that I did.
2001 Rickenbacker 4003-5
The string spacing at the bridge is 15mm It can be played fingerstyle and it works great with a pick.

Yes ... about 1/16" +/-
The ones that I mod are 2 1/4" to 2 3/8" at the bridge where the stock 4003s5 is 2 1/16" to 2 1/8" at the bridge.
