Yeah, I lost one of the screws somewhere along the way. So I put the missing one where it's the least important. I'll replace it when I get the screws for the truss rod cover.
Rickman's delivery of the line "By Grabthar's Hammer.... what a savings" remains one of my favorite moments in cinema. He packs so much disdain and resentment in that one short line.

Just got (like 10 minutes ago) the truss rod covers from @Barticus. They look fantastic!
He sent me a couple of choices:
As originally designed:
Unfortunately due to the materials, it's too thick for the strings...
Option 2:
The cream is maple (we couldn't get the cream acrylic to cut... at all!) So I could leave it as is, or try and stain it to match the burst.
Option 3:
What do you guys think? Again, the cream is maple, so in theory I could stain it to match the headstock...

That abalone one looks way cool. Too bad about it being too tall. I don't suppose the bottom could be sanded/filed down to make it shorter?
Second place vote goes to the cream lettering on black background. I'd leave it as it is rather than staining it. That pops out a little more than the other one.
If you want subtle though, staining the cream background one will get you there. I'd go the eye catching route, but that's just me.
The abalone would obviously be very cool. Since that won’t work I feel like the black letters on the maple would go well with the maple fretboard and the rest of the bass. How about pictures of the whole bass with both covers?
Personally I am leaning towards the black with maple letters. I think it complements the black pickups very nicely.
I like the black with light letters. I like the abalone one best. Could the abalone one spend some time on a sander to bring down the thickness? 
I like the dark letters on maple to match the fretboard, but it looks like the edges of the truss rod cavity are maybe sticking out in a couple of spots.
It's the blue tape on the back holding the letters in place.
