@moshspeggeti has a good bass (how are you liking it, btw?) I recently acquired a Douglas fretted sixer and was very impressed with it. The frets seemed pretty even, the neck was straight (but thick - I think I like that though) and it actually had a pretty decent sound. Playing it was pretty easy, almost more enjoyable than my Ibanez (with it's thin neck). I'm currently having it painted and am waiting for the neck to get back, then I'll order strings and put it all together. I'll be on the lookout for more Douglas basses as they are real sleepers.

i'm thinking in returning to the 6 string territory and two basses cought my eye: ibanez sr306eb-wk and the HB bz-6000 NT.
I like them both already just by looking at Thomman's. The price and looks are right.
It seems to me the that the HB is way heavier than the ibanez just by looking at the body shape's and woods used.
Regarding the HB in particular, i once had a HK 6 stringer and the tone was superb, and it looks like the wilkinson pu's and preamp pretty much resembles it. And by the videos posted here, this one is much more prettier. Although i loved the sound, i got tired of the bodyshape so, i sold it.
And about the ibanez, there's no serious reviews yet but he's sr305eb brother seems to be very nice in the videos i've seen. So now it's time to decide for just one (for the moment!). Obviously this is super subjective but i have to ask, HB or ibanez?

Get that SR306EB-WK. The latest SR300 (E) series are special... They are in budget category but packed with specs that usually exist only in pro / more expensive basses. Others in the same price range are usually equipped with skinny standard bridge, but Ibanez put their better specially designed bridge on these which saddles are 'trapped' and the strings can be loaded easily from the top. Its 5 pcs neck usually belongs to higher class basses. I know BZ-6000BT also has these kind of specs, but the last one, the coil tap thing on the latest SR-300 (E) series is rarely can be found on budget bass. So tone wise, it could give you broader palette of sound.
Regarding the weight... Sweetwater mentioned one sold SR306EBWK to be 9 lbs. It's not as light as my SRFF806BK (3.8 Kg / 8 lbs 6 oz), but it still falls into light category, given the fact that it's a 6 string bass. And mass products within same type of instruments do slightly varies in weight, but still SR series are relatively known to be lightweight basses.

I also have a 4 string sr500, maybe from 1995/1996?, customized to fretless with a new remade Ebony fretboard. It's quite light alright. Also played a few times with a 2000/2001 sr705. Great tone, super light.
I'll have a go at the sr306 then!

I need to add a P 4 string for some session/hired gun work and Ill have to leave the club for a while. Check my sig for a killer deal on a 6. I picked this over Fbass/Ken Smith Roscoe and MTD.
Wow! I would hope you can just find a suitable affordable P4 and hang on to that awesome bass!

Thanks! Always an option too, but if I can hook up a TB'r with a rare 6er at a good price that is fine with me as well.
I need to join in here. I'm definitely using my recently purchased Brice Defiant. I've been enjoying it a lot. I still need to get better at utilizing the C string, but it's there when I need it.

That sounds like a great list. But I will tell you that I can't say enough great things about an F Bass BN-6. I am always shocked when I play my BN-6 at how unbelievably great is sounds. And the playability is just perfect for me. And of course fit and finish is out of this world.
It also has an unbelievable price!
That cost at least a years worth of paychecks for me!
Not including food,gas and bills!
There's a reason why cheaper basses exist.
