6-String Basses. What’s the deal?

My Ibanez GSR206 is my go to bass for writing and recording. I've played mostly 5 string basses over the years, and I also play some guitar so it's easy to get around on the six string bass (tuned BEADGC), without thinking about it too much.

But, I also really love my 4 string Squier P/J (Precision). It's my go to funk machine and the "in-your-face punch" sounds huge through my amp.

I frequently play both for different things without issue.

OP here. Thanks for resurrecting this thread. I had forgotten about it. I'm playing 6 now and it's effortless. I really dig it. I sold all my 4s and exclusively play 5 and 6 now with no regrets.
That's great to hear. It's always nice to read what someone thinks a year or two after the fact so I appreciate your response.
