i have been wanting one of these basses for quite a while, i remember they were hella cheap when they came out , looked nice in magazine but scared me off, i ended up paying like twice as much for a different peavey cirrus 5 of some kind and it was aight but i traded it in to get something else before too long, then a couple years later i finally saw the grind 6 in a pawn shop or something and took it for a spin, to my surprise it was actually the better bass in almost every respect as far as i could tell. that was a long time ago i just yesterday finally acquired one and like the one i played before, its very playable, and its kind of a butte for what it is too, i do feel like it would probly benefit from some more advanced electronics, i would probably see the soapbars on it as the weakest feature (that ive noticed so far at least) i may be plotting on swappin them out for some lace alumitone soapbars. i was also trying to mount a roland gk3b on it but was having string spacing difficulties, not sure if its gonna fly like that, still gonna troubleshoot it more but we'll see, last night i could only get it to voice 5 strings at a time but it aint over yet. ill follow up if i get any mods done on this thing since we all happen to be going that same route. does anyone know if its standard for this bass to have an xlr jack as well as a 1/4in jack? i cant remember if the other one i saw had that but mine does. since it isnt in production anymore peavey doesnt seem to wanna say poopie about it either. im gonna also look into the integral version of the gk 3b and see if it might have a broader range of adjustment for string spacing on it and then put the 13 pin plate in the place of the xlr, and make the corresponding changes in its guts of course but yeah its got potential for sure imo. also you arent gonna wanna put those hipshot extenders on all strings for this one, at least not on strings 3 and 4, their tuning machines are a bit too close together on the back of the headstock to allow them to rotate the way they do i think, theyd just crash into eachother, although those extenders are badass, i use one on another bass that i did things to, also that would cost you like 600 bucks to get all those, you might feel a bit jackassy if you were to spend as much as the whoel bass cost you for a set of tuning machines, although id be lying if i said i hadnt considered throwing two of them on this bass for the lowest two strings cuz i find that really useful when im working with a guitar player who might love to play in drop tunings
