6 string Sandberg (and other J style 6ers?)

Greetings

I saw Oteil Burbidge made a post last year on his ig about sitting during some Dead & Co. shows because of a collapsed disc in his back. He mentioned his basses being heavy.

Some recent posts show him with a very cool Sandberg 6 string (mm & j pickups) California (T6?).. here he is at the North Beach Bandshell in Miami with his group.

I’ve been wanting to dive into the 6 string realm for a while and this type of build speaks to me. Upon looking for info from Sandberg it seems like their website only offers 4 & 5 string options in descriptions and the “bass builder” they have. They do have a Superlight line and I am wondering if that is what inspired Oteil to try a Sandberg.

Does anyone have any info or insights ? I did see one other Sandberg 6 via image searches but no info.

Been searching talkbass for other examples of fender inspired 6 strings, but not seeing much. I remember seeing some from LowEnd Bass shop over a decade ago. As much as I’d love to be able to invest in a Ken Smith or MTD, it’s not accesible to a free-lancing bassist/carpenter like me at this time. I did enjoy trying a Bongo6 at a shop a few years ago. What else do you suggest seeking out in the 1500-2500 dollar range? I’ve never tried an Ibanez BTB 6 or a Yamaha TRB 6. Maybe that’s what I should be looking for?

Please do share some photos for inspiration if you don’t mind! Have a good day!
