so you can get used traynor yba200's, peavey vb-2's, ashdown lb30's, ctm-15's. anything else?
i have no way to try any of these amps because they are new and no one stocks one in a 100 mile radius, or there used and probably further than 100 miles away. so how do i know which one im going to like more? the small watt tubsters club raves about how loud these 15 and 30 watt amps are. are they 200 watters that much louder? im not necessarily looking for a gigging amp bu it wouldnt hurt. i play mostly reggae and dub and people with these amps tend not to so utube videos are rare where i can here the dub style. also obviously cab choice is going to vary from user to user, i will be using it with a green boy 15/6....all input is welcomed

mesa d180 works great for me, my friend really likes the traynor, both are 200 watts which work really nicely with 215s and are perfect for loud drummers ime, didn't consider the svt due to weight and no real need for that level of volume

+1, I'd go with the VB-2, I recently snagged one and it's becoming the main gigging amp for my round wound strung basses.

Have you checked Tall Toad Music in down town Petaluma? One of the best music stores up that way.

give them a call first so you don't waste your time. The best place I've found for bass gear in the Bay Area (so far, anyway) is Gelb in Redwood City.

If you're playing dub into a fEARFUL with that budget why not get a tube preamp like the ART Pro Channel II and a power amp?

Lot more power, that's for sure and you'd get all the mileage out of the fF.

I've been very happy with the VB-2, 225 watts, quite giggable and the fF is actually quite efficient.

Just a question of whether or not you like the more mids-focused tone of the EL34 power tubes the VB-2 uses. Plenty of low end, but it's a little different than the 6L6s or 6550s that are more commonly used for bass.

It's a pity you're not closer, I'm in Santa Cruz, otherwise I'd be more than happy for you to give mine a test drive with your fF.
