Just got off the phone with Gard. He says it really sounds good, even through his little amp at the shop. It's en route to Greg now, where it will stay for a couple weeks while I free up the rest of the cash to pay off the balance (rough summer, long story...), so maybe he will have a chance to record a couple clips of it while its there.

You may be surprised. When I had my fretless it really only took a couple weeks before I took it out. It was just church, and I had to be a little more aware of what I was doing but I got through just fine.

I really hope it sounds good on this one. According to Gard, this one sounds a bit fatter than his JB fretless, but that may be due to the mahogany body on this one, vs the ash body on his. Either way, that's what I was hoping for with this one, was just a little bit bigger, fatter tone than the normal JB basses.
