I am considering buying a 68 Hofner violin bass. It has a bass boost circuit and is configured slightly different to the standard 500/1, with a different control panel and what appears to be a selector toggle switch on the upper "bout". This is a model of which I was unaware and was produced for just a few years in the late sixties - same body and neck but supposedly improved electronics. Does anyone know anything about these? I will not be able to try before I buy, but it has had a neck reset from a reputable luthier and the frets are good.
