But yeah, definitely at least another week before I can string it up...
I do have a few more pics coming up though. I took a couple of drilling the holes for the tuning machines, and something else I forget just what.
Ok, so I'm totally just showing off now, but I hope you will humor me
But I really want to mention here, I owe a lot to Alex for his concept and ideas for this bass. I would never have build this bass if it weren't for him, and for that I am really grateful.

Very cool, pretty unique too I'd say. Beautiful wood. It's even a bit thicker than my hollowbody Conklin, which is IMO rather thick (it's about 10cm thick).

I recently inherited a table from my grandmother, it sounds rather boring, but it was quite special to me. It was my grandfathers work desk and I have had my eye on it as long as I can remember. Being 130yrs old its only 80yrs younger than Australia itself and I will keep it for the rest of my life.
I hope in 50yrs time I will have a grandson who will have his eye on my bass - as bulls$%t as it sounds, its more than a just bass to me

Hmmmmmm maybe I should sell my car.... Hell, I would sell a house to get my hands on one of these babies.
Ahh, coming back to this thread and seeing all your kind words... it means a lot to me really. My collective respect for all you guys is more than I can put into words.
This bass has spent the last couple weeks getting about 15 coats of Tru-Oil. I call it that, but really it's a mix of Tru-Oil and Watco. I start with a couple coats of Watco to bring out the figure. Then many coats of Tru-Oil. For the last few coats I use a mix of about 1/3 Tru-Oil with 2/3 Watco. This gives a very smooth glassy finish. The Tru-Oil needs to be sanded or steel-wooled between coats and never really levels very well. They say you can apply it then wipe off the excess. I always find it tacks up too fast for that. With the mix of mostly Watco, it tacks up more slowly and you can really rub in a great finish.

That is one helluva of a hollowbody; you have some serious talent (not to mention luck, especially with that grain)!
Ahh. I just found this thread, and I'm upset that it isn't finished yet. I want to hear it! I hate you with every ounce of the love in my heart.
Interesting finishing technique. Excellent result. Is this just watco danish oil that you mix with the tru oil, or some other watco product?
