Ok guys I been playing for a number a years im 29years old im a single dad and my music career is starting to take off. I really been wanting a ken smith for years and i hear that they have a Ken Smith Burner. I heard it doesnt sound just like the $4,000 Ken's but I really want one, so could someone give me some advice because i never played one or heard one. I play a SR506 6string Ibanez and BTB 6string Ibanez. Would me buying a ken smith burner be a step up from the basses i already have or should i be content and not buy the Ken Smith Burner?

I say... Stop using a line of question marks in your title. Secondly, I have no idea what Ken Smith are like at all. It sounds like you have good basses already though. If you have money to throw around, buy what you like. Throw some of that cash my way too. But the basses you have will do the job. What amp do you have? What effects, if any?
I play thru a 810 peavey and the 700 watt peavey touring head no effects i play gospel and r and b lol
The BTB is already a finely built,great sounding bass. What exactly does the ken smith have that your BTB doesnt deliver, that you want?
@MNAirHead and 5String5fingers so are saying i shouldn't buy the Ken Smith Burner? I just hear once you buy a Ken you won't need another bass true or not true?
i say...why on earth do people get so annoyed by either high case letters, or something that you wouldnt usually type.....just cant get my head around it?????? why bother even mentioning it... ? time away from the computer is a great thing..
As a 2 time Ken Smith owner (currently a EG 5 string with 19mm spacing) I can tell you the fit, finish, build and tone of a higher end Smith are among the best you can buy. The Burner just doesn't have the same tone as the higher end Smiths. However, If you want a really nice "Smith like" tone but at a significantly lower price tag you should try the USA Peavy Cirrus. They are nicely constructed, sound similar to Smiths and run around $1800. It is a fact that Nothing that "mimicks a Smith" beats a Smith but you will get a "Smith like" tone and be happier with it than a Burner IMHO. Check 'em out.
My thoughts exactly. I own a USA Cirrus 6 string and it cops the Ken Smith vibe quite well and I only paid $800 for it, YMMV. Smiths are basses that have a distinctive tone and are usually wanted for the Ken Smith tone. You hear a lot of them in urban gospel and jazz. Depending on what type of music you're playing right now, if a Smith tone is what you want, get a Cirrus. If you want a more versatile instrument that can get you a plethora of tones, get a nice jazz bass or just keep what you have already. Also, there's no law against having more than one bass in your arsenal.
There is no "must have" bass. There are plenty of great basses at various price points, and they're out there used. I suggest you shop around and find out what really will make a difference to you - if anything does.
If you want a Ken Smith there is no bass that is gonna give you that sound in a cheap way, not even the Burners. But.... the Cirrus basses sound really good and have a similar vibe going for a lot less cash.

I agree with T-Most. The US made neck through Peavey Cirrus comes closest to the classic Ken Smith vibe. Closer than a Ken Smith Burner. The Burner was my first 5 string and it was a very nice bass. But when A/Bed it with my instructor's CR5.....night and day.
Used Smiths are usually reasonable in price. Since you play R&B and Gospel, a Smith would fit in nicely. They are very popular for those genres here in Detroit.
As for last bass that you would ever want...You do know that this Talk Bass, don't you? TB = GAS
