75 Jazz bass.... The one?

My "The One" bass I had was a 1970 Jazz. I have had nearly 1000 instruments including guitars and upright and electric basses ore more and this was my player for over a decade. Seriously miss that bass.

Well I scored a 1975 last week and just had Fralins put in it ( hand wound by Lindy) and it is amazing. It is far from perfect but feels like home. It could be the "next one"

Yeah, unfortunately it is true.... I lost count after 475ish and that was in 1993...

No not at all. It is not too heavy at all and the neck is perfect. I wouldn't call it a slim neck but is what I would call comfy and a fast player.

Yeah it is really kinda mind numbing when I try to put it in perspective. The Internet and Talkbass only poured gas on the already out of control situation.

Are you really gonna ask a guy that just admitted that he has had over 1000 basses why he got rid of one?


LOL, but yes there is a serious answer to that question....I was a young soldier in with a new baby and a young wife and needed diapers and gas money.... sounds cliche yet true.

However, what do you mean when you say "It is far from perfect..."? Just wondering. Worn frets, dinged up or bad electronics or something? (looks good in your pictures)

I have a '74 Olympic White and it's pretty darn amazing to play, I must say. Light body and wonderfully chunky neck (for a Jazz).

Now that sounds like a very nice bass to have. Maybe one day I can have a sweet bass to sell and regret later. But that's part I the hole experience. My dream would be a 72 jazz, just like geddy.

Lindy rewound the pickups in my '72, supposedly to original specs, but I think they sound way better than the originals!

Funny how back in the day we all knew our '70s Fenders sucked and wanted a pre-CBS... funny how they improved with age

I didn't have to kill anyone.... Just a lot of hard work from the age of 13 but you assume I purchased.... Most were trades. Capitalism doesn't stop anyone from owning a bass guitar, in fact they are far more available due to capitalism.
