80s bands sure did look weird sometimes

I am not embarrassed to admit that I own the vinyl of their debut LP, Bostin' Steve Austin, purchased as a teenager.

Weirdly I had also been a member of the 6 Million Dollar Man fan club years prior to buying the album. Might have had something to do with my no-listen purchase. Also I was a young teen overflowing with hormones. Marketing works y'all!

And the band's full name is We've got a Fuzzbox (and We're Going to Use It), IIRC.

Yeah, I was deep into hardcore and industrial stuff then so they were a bit on the tame side for me, but I figured with the music and full name they were just taking the piss and having a bit of fun while it lasted so I respected ithat at least.

But wow, the label really tried to give them the Bananarama treatment for the follow-up stuff. Just awful.

I read somewhere that Simon and one of the original Seekers wrote the song. Either way, it's a great song.
From wikipedia:

Red Rubber Ball
is a song by the American rock band the Cyrkle. Written by Bruce Woodley of The Seekers and Paul Simon, the song reached number two on the US Billboard Hot 100.

John Simon went on to produce the Band’s Music from Big Pink, The Band, and The Last Waltz, Cheap Thrills by Big Brother & the Holding Company featuring Janis Joplin, Songs of Leonard Cohen by Leonard Cohen, and Child Is Father to the Man by Blood, Sweat & Tears.
