80s bands sure did look weird sometimes

Sorry it’s not prog enough for you, like Freddie and the Dreamers or “Do Wah Diddy”.

Is it cranky old man day here on TB?
Huh? I don’t even get the 60’s references- I know what you’re referring to, but they were before my time. I’m not even sure what brush you’re trying to paint me with.
The info attached to the first clip says it was released in 1986.
The year this came out I saw The Plasmatics and The Cro-Mags open for Motörhead, I saw Flipper open for Butthole Surfers, etc.
Those bands looked “weird”. They also sounded and acted weird. And loud.
This is just not that weird- musically or visually, in that time or this one.
After this video, auto play went to their version of “Spirit in the Sky” on OGWT. Yikes! Really awful. No wonder I don’t remember them.

Unless you were a musical teen looking for music played at a high level, not glitz and show.

We were out there, in the 80s anyway.
Paul Young with Pino
Kid Creole and the Coconuts
Gap Band
Paul Simon
Bowie
Just some examples of bands I saw in the 80’s that didn’t make me choose between great music and a great show. I could think of many others, but you get the idea.

Not sure how I’m projecting here.

Seems any band that doesn’t fit your narrow view of “normal” is labeled (or observed) as weird.

Whatever.
Both or you posts have been 100% projection. You're projecting a sense of judgement which I haven't presented and you're calling me narrow minded because of an opinion you've assumed I hold which does not resemble reality. The ideas you've created in your head about my intended meaning not my intended meaning.

That's called projection.

Yeah, but if they're in the band, you'd think they would put in a little amount of effort to mimic the part correctly! Even if they didn't play it in the studio, I am assuming they would have played some live shows with the band "musicians", unless they were doing the Milli Vanilli.
In the first video I posted the drummer fumbles her sticks instead of miming a drum fill/solo thing. I don't think they were taking the video miming seriously, and are probably going for entertainment value above all else.

OP didn't say that weird was bad. You assumed it.
Fair enough.

I apologize for the misunderstanding on MY part.
