80's old school - Wayne Braithwaite

I worked with Wayne Brathwaite for a few years and knew him well. He was an extraordinary musician and human being. If you search Youtube, there is video of him with Herbie Hancock and the Rockit Band. I have several live recordings of the band from tours in 1983 and 1984 which I listen to frequently. Coincidentally, I worked with John Peña (mentioned in a previous post) as well. While they had a similarity in tone, each had their unique style. It’s so tragic that Wayne passed away (cancer) at such a young age; he had huge talent and is greatly missed.

I was a huge fan I used to play in a cover band back and we played Do Me Right by Kenny G where Wayne slapped a Stingray. He also produced the album. Does anybody know what type of cancer he passed from? I think back then somebody mentioned colon. There was no Internet in 1991 all we had was house phones and VCR's

The guy that got the 6 year old me into playing bass Although I didn't his name or even his face

I heard Billy Ocean and heated the combination of dark low mysterious, but still very groovy dance notes in the background of a singer that really knew how to express emotions in a language i didn't spoke yet
And that s when i realized music was my thing and that was the music i wanted to make
