9 String Build Bass/Tapper

You sure did put a bunch of thought into it. :D It's gonna be a neck-though. The 2 necks will be glued together with a 1/2" wide 1/4" thick piece of wenge (the necks will be wenge as well). Just carved separately. There will be one fingerboard (or fretboard). I really don't perceive any tension issues. The bass side of the neck will have 2) 3/16" cf rods and 1) two-way tr. It will be easily adjustable as the short neck only goes to the 12th fret and the body wing goes to the 9th fret.

I guess I need to get started on this, I havn't even cut a sliver of wood and I'm already on pg. 3.

It wasn`t actually a lot of thought. I just looked at what you had drawn and thought about how I would build it. Although it might be a bit of my Mechanics of Materials homework coming out in in my posting.

Your method sounds just as good as my method and the playability will likely be better. Now if you went with two separate fretboards, with the treble one being attached with set screws (or something similar), you could easily swap it out for a fretless one. Or you could made the neck a bolt on, two fretboards, two necks and have one of each being fretted with the other fretless. Then you would have a bunch of possibilities (if 4 is a bunch).

Sorry, this is, from a design standpoint, much more interesting than my homework.
