90s USA Ibanez ATK, worth it?

Hey guys

Was just at a shopr and found a super cool looking Ibanez ATK made in the US. Tried it out, plays great, has a cool sound (although either the battery or electronics are kind of messed lol). Anyone know anything about these basses? Or anyone owned one? Any thoughts welcome! Thanks.

I didn't realize there were MIA versions of that bass. I thought the import version was pretty cool.

What do you mean about the electronics? I'd want to find out before pricing. If it's a battery, no problem. If, otoh is is the pickup or preamp, you have a bigger issue. Is be surprised if you could get a direct replacement from ibanez. So any replacement would be different. Possibly better, but different. And there is also the cost. Aftermarket preamps start around 75 bucks and go from there. Plus either labor or your time. I think the ATK pickup was standard MM size, and figure similar pricing there too.

Actually, it is still possible to get the original tri-coil pickup and pre from Ibanez.

+1 I didn't know either but I had a Trekker bass with one of those necks and loved it.

One more who wasn't aware of US Ibanez Atks here:confused:

Btw great if Ibanez parts online can supply original TripleCoil pickups, 'cause they can copy MM series/parallel offerings, but ain't correspondant to MM humbuckers so MM humbucker ain't no replacement

Always sumthin' new to learn: thanx y'all on talkbass:D
