a 6 string with wide string spacing pleasE?

i cant find anything, i like the feel of a 4 string jazz bass or an ibanez GSR for slapping but need a 6 string and dont want a stletto studio 6 because the strings are too damn close. i have big hands so a wide neck isnt a problem for me. looking for something in the 600$ range...help?

Standard spacing for a 4 is around 19mm. Yamaha TRB's are completely awesome. broadneck Warwicks are 20mm but insanely expensive. Ibanez BTB's have good spacing too. I think the BTB or TRB would be a good choice, I think that they both have 19mm spacing and are under 800.

I know that Ibanez BTB's have wider string spacing... I know that at least the 5-string has 4-string spacing, if I remember correctly the 6 had a wider spacing also - I remember playing it once a few years back.

But if you have the kind of $$ then Warwick has a couple models - Streamer Stage 1 and I believe the other is a neck-thru Thumb bass.

I had a Carvin 6 for a while and this was my issue, and those are the only ones I came across.

Good luck!

A used Yamaha TRB...they have fingerboards like the decks of aircraft carriers.

+1. You could also look at the TRB1006; it retails around $800 new but you might be able to talk them down or find a deal on a good blem. The TRBs have Jazz spacing, not as wide as a P would be if you expanded it to 6 strings but far wider than many sixers I've tried.
