A 9-String Bass

Looking very nice. I wasn't sure that I'd like the exposure of the inner lams after tapering the neck, but that side shot of the neck looks pretty cool.



and fingerboard time...
Too wide for my slotting jig and can't get Ebony wide enough anyway. So bookmatched and joined after slotting.

Drop me a line next time. I just had some 6" wide Mac ebony laying around that I cut up for an acoustic back & side set.
 
The F# looks a little on the light side. Typical F# strings I've seen are in the .165" neighbourhood and I would probably want to be in the .145'+ range. The high end looks good. On my eight I have plain strings for the F and A# (.18 and .12 IIRC).

You're right, the F# is pretty wimpy. The F and A# seem fine. I have a 007 too so I may restring it up a 4th.
