A Brand New - Newbie

Hello all my bass brothers and sisters, my name is Pleschette and I'm new to this site though I have joined TalkBass on my facebook account. My reason for joining is to become better at playing bass, I started 2 years ago when I turned 21 and I've hit a learning plateau so to speak. I almost feel as if I've started too late, parts of me wonder if I'm too old to pick up on this instrument but I'm still pushing myself to become better. I hardly understand all the chord/ scale progression stuff and that's what I need to go further in my learning ( I only read tab right now ) so hopefully I'll catch on soon!

Anyhow, happy to be here and hope to hear from as many people as I can, encouragement is always welcome. Hehe

Yeah, man! I am 60 years olde kind of a hippy in Alaska! I am learning to play Bass guitar! Seems kind of interesting. Better later than never. I like Drums too! Well, I wish Ye luck, mon! Hi Pleschette! Welcome to the forum. Us girl bassists are few and far between

You're never too old to learn something, as long as you love it. I started playing bass less than a year ago at the grand old age of 27... played guitar for years but didn't enjoy it so learned nothing as a result!
I'm a better bassist already than I ever was a guitarist lol

Keep at the scales and progressions etc, it will all start to sink in eventually. I don't really understand them myself yet but I'm starting to get to grips with the notes on the fretboard, something that was totally lost on me for years on the guitar (no, not because there are more strings!)

I would suggest getting a good teacher to help with the scales and improvisation, I have a great teacher called Ant, I've improved no end since starting lessons and the encouragement I get from him is priceless.

Anyway, enough of my waffling, I hope to see you around here in the future
