Huge Lakland fan here ... 44-02 with Bartolini's. This baby plays and sounds like a million bucks, better neck than all five USA Lakland's I've had in the past

Should be very nice.....I find it interesting that you are going a Hi C - not the "standard" for a 55-02 - but hey - when you order, get what you want!!!!

I know you just got it and prolly not fair, but how would you compare it to the Sadowsky M5-24 tonewise?

Two different animal, my Sadowsky M524 has modern dry cutting vibe about it unlike anything else I've played and has been my main bass since I got it. I play mainly R&B, funk, smooth jazz and gospel and it works for all without a hitch except for the old school stuff, IMO. Thats what I like about the 5502 is allows you to have multiple basses at your finger tips, you can get a P & Jazz bass thing going and the Musicman vibe going too. Its a very versatile bass. They will both be going out with me in the future.

I think it's the image compression that does that. There's a specific term for the effect....that I can't remember now

It's not because of the compression. It's a moire pattern caused by the interaction of the camera's resolution and the winding on the strings.

It's also called "aliasing."

I've got a goldie too and it also needed attention due to shrinkage. When I brought it down to Lakland, Carl filed and oiled her up for me. I was offered Dan Lakin's fretless Scheff while I was there, JS 10 and the only fretless made. I re christened it 'Tigger', but around here it's known as 'Sweet Jesus..'

Now that is a beautiful Scheff! I have never seen one like it (probably never will again).....I am sure "Sweet Jesus" sounds great....nice to get offered a bass from the man himself (Dan not Jesus!)
