Two different animal, my Sadowsky M524 has modern dry cutting vibe about it unlike anything else I've played and has been my main bass since I got it. I play mainly R&B, funk, smooth jazz and gospel and it works for all without a hitch except for the old school stuff, IMO. Thats what I like about the 5502 is allows you to have multiple basses at your finger tips, you can get a P & Jazz bass thing going and the Musicman vibe going too. Its a very versatile bass. They will both be going out with me in the future.

Right on. I love my 55-02 for just those same reasons. I'd love to check out a M524 one day.

Thanks Praiser, it sounds as good as it looks, but the most beautiful part is the incredible neck! So very thin and responsive, you'd love this bass blind. Dan said he just wasn't much of a fretless player and offered it to me because I was so happy with my Skyline. He used to bring it to all the NAMM shows and it was the Lakland website pin up example of a Deluxe USA Scheff. The top is like a fingerprint, totally one of a kind. It's amazing how these lipstick pup's scare off so many players. The Skyline is excellent too, snatch one up if you ever get the chance folks.

Was it the Jz3 Pre?

So you just dropped the Audere into the DJ5? I looked around on the web and I keep reading that either I have to get a blank control plate from Lakland, or have to do some drilling in the original plate.

If that's not the case, then I'm sold.

My 55-76 (pictured a few pages ago in this thread) is on its way back to me with the new Lakland preamp installed. I'm looking forward to hearing it. I kept the Seymour MM, since the new Lakland MM cannot be wired so that the switch gives you the true MM settings (series/single/parallel), and my guess is the new Lakland MM does not sound as 'Music Man like' as the Seymour.

I was never a fan of the Bart pre used in the Lakland. I'm hoping the new Lakland pre 'cleans up' the tone a little bit, and smooths out the top end. We shall see!

Yup. I'm flipping b/t TB and making a brochure on 'Invasive Exotic Plants'. Saw a good band last night, so the coffee ain't working like it should.

How's Darryl and when is Amber due?:)

It appears that Lakland is no longer making the Skyline version of the Jerry Sheff model. I guess I will have to save up for an US model or find a used model in the Ebay-verse.

Yeow! That's gonna hurt. The Skylines are pretty much the only option for a dude like me. Think it's because people don't see those pickups very often?
