I have almost finished it. Just got to the part where it gets sexy:

Way better--the whole tone of the movies was changed--and while every version Douglas Adams did made changes, and sometimes contradicted itself, the movie pales in comparison to all the other media the story has appeared in.
And it wasn't for lack of acting--for the most part--Martin Freeman, Zooey Deschanel, John Malkovitch, Alan Rickman, Stephen Fry, Sam Rockwell, etc...
In many cases much better actors than the ones in the TV version--and the movie also deleted this bit-
