There can be some issues with replacing the truss rod nut:
1. If it's a newer G&L, it will have a dual action truss rod. On that, the truss rod nut cannot be removed since it's soldered onto the truss rod. That includes both USA and Tribute models. I'm not sure when G&L switched to that, but you can probably find out at
www.bassesbyleo.com/forum, or perhaps someone else here on TB knows.
2. Even if it's an older model with a single action truss rod, removing the old, stripped-out nut can be a problem. I used one of these on the truss rod nut on my '07 SB-2:
Allen truss rod nut too worn to adjust? These wrenches save the day!

3. Putting an extra washer or even two under the truss rod nut can be a solution on a single action truss rod, but be very careful. Doing so can actually split the fretboard up around the first fret.. It happened to me with my SB-2, and I've heard of others who have had the same problem. However, it can work if you're cautious. Do not over-tighten the truss rod, and lube the nuts and washers before installing.
4. I never found a washer that fit. Either it had a hole big enough to go over the truss rod but was too large to fit in the slot, or it fit in the slot but the hole in the washer was too small to fit over the truss rod. Some modification to a washer might be necessary. There might be some players here on TB who can tell you where to find the proper washers. I just used ones from my local hardware store and ground them down a little.
