A glimpse into how much semi-big full time bands make?

My apologies for the derail but I have a sister in law who feeds her daughter cut hot dogs mixed with ice cream.

Yikes! That's a terrible diet to say the least. Presumably she feeds the kid thusly so as to coax her to eat?
I've read that dietary tastes are locked by age three, hopefully there is still time to stave that path? Before the kid ends up on
"My Weird Obsession." Or worse, gets cancer. Hot Dogs are really bad stuff.

EDIT: For some reason I took you to mean this was the kid's exclusive diet.
Hot dogs with ice cream as an occasional treat, certainly not my thing -- but not
deserving of my moralizing, guess I'll put the high horse back in stable.

She can cook. She's just not currently allowed to do so.

It was a common thing for her to be fed at 2-3. She was a chubby one , too. I haven't seen her in a few years.

I think a lot depends on the genre of music and location. I know a guy who recently became the bass player for a well established local disco band. This band plays mainly private parties and corporate events. He told me that he makes more in one gig with this band than his entire other hard rock band makes for a gig. He said it was enough that he could even quit his day job if he really wanted to. So there are good paying gigs out there if you are lucky enough to find them!

Still sounds nice. If i write her a Xmas card, will it be screened?

At present, they give her five pieces of mail at a time. There is presumably quite a backlog of mail awaiting her, as she has a lot of fans. But I encourage you to write her. She'll absolutely get the letter sooner or later, she's not going anywhere unless the appeal fund grows appreciably. And her lawyer thinks she is likely better staying with the present verdict then risking retrial.

Man, she sounds real great, I can't believe she's single. I've got some Phillipino cigarettes still I can send her to sweeten the pot. Maybe she can growl in my upcoming lowselfesteemcore band when she's out. I'm practicing my blast beats while tuned 10 steps down, so those cigs will get her into range.

tears of laughter @ "lowselfesteemcore"

OK, you pwned, not me! I bow. But don't think there won't be a next time -- only for now, the wife needs the computer for REAL HOUSEWIVES OF BEVERLY HILLS.

Some things to remember:

-Most people can't live off their art

-Being an artist that does not live solely off of their art does NOT make you some sort of 'failure'. It's just the reality of the situation. There is no shame in holding down a regular job as well as practicing your artform. It doesn't mean you aren't talented, driven, focused etc. It mostly just means you aren't as lucky or as well-networked as others.

-Yes, it sucks so very much that you don't get to just 'follow your passion' and find monetary success like the motivational posters tell you to. Welcome to being a grown up. Your dreams don't have to end, they just need a little modification to fit into the real world. It will be okay.
