A good comfortable desk chair for practicing?

I use a stool, w/ a padded swivel top. It's higher than a drum throne, but not as high as a bar stool. I got it at one of those Home Depot Design Expo stores, but I'm sure something similar is available at a bunch of other places.

Thanks so far!

When I'm full-on practicing, I'll sit at the edge of the chair with good posture, so the arms actually don't get in the way then.

But lots of times when I'm just doodling or spending hours on a figure, I'll actually lean back in the chair and kick my feet up on the desk while watching videos. But I can't move my elbows in that position at all.

And I do have a stool; I usually sit in that when shedding upright. But I like to be lazy when at the desk, I guess.

I'd love a chair with removable arms!

I have these little wooden chairs with no arms and cane seats that we bought for my kids when they were like 3. They sit about ten inches off the floor but are great for playing.
I have some "low rider" armless rocking chairs for back porch playing like that. I guess they were called "nursing rockers", I refer to them as "rocker rockers". :D

On a related note, I use one of these when camping, around a fire, under the redwoods or in a stream.

And this on gigs.

You can take the arms off of almost any office chair that I've seen. Flip it over and look. Usually the arm brackets are attached to the seat base with a couple of machine screws.

I have two nice old '50's era armless office chairs that I use in my studio area. Built like tanks, nice cushions, backrests, casters, fairly low height.

I've been using this Alric chair from ikea at work for a few years now for programming work. Surprisingly comfortable, and I've occasionally practiced on it as well:

At home during practice I'll use this cheap ikea Marius stool:

Typically I prefer standing but I'll sit if recording. I grabbed one of those inexpensive conductor music stands from guitar center some weeks back that's pretty good.

I have an armless office chair I found on a trip to that giant, Swedish-y housewares store. I tried every one they had on the floor and bought the most comfortable/sturdiest model. I've had it for years now and I think it cost around $60 or 70US.

P1010018.JPG I just built a standing desk and racks. The standing desk has been great for my back, which is aggravated by too much sitting. I don't bang the bass into things nearly as much. Everything is easy to reach while I have the bass strapped on. The Zoom B3 runs off the computer's usb, and gives me audio in the headphones, a looper, drum machine, and tons of effects. The mac runs irealB, and some recording stuff like garageband and cubase. I should have built this thing years ago, but the honey do list was long.

I'd been using some restaurant rack shelving for a practice station for years.

And I do most of my desk work standing, which cuts down on screen sucking time.

Pretty much everything is reclaimed or repurposed, so it was a cheap project. I gained a ton of room in my room, too.

I figure I might as well stand to practice, since that's how I'll do a gig. I bought a beefy drafting stool at an office supply for when I want to pull up a seat. It's got a stout footrest ring so I can get comfortable, and I can put my feet up on the shelves too. I spent about $200 on the stool, it's not a flimsy, wobbly, no cushion thing. Pretty sweet.

I went to the office place so I could try it out before I bought.

What do you guys sit on at your desk that doesn't get in the way of playing? I need to get a chair without arm rests, but most armless desk chairs I see are those dinky little typing chairs.

What do you guys use?
I'm in IT and work from home a lot. I've gone through a LOT of desk chairs. My absolute favorite is the one I'm using now. The arms fold up and out of the way (and yet are solid as a rock when folded down) And the seat and back are tight netting. On sale right now for $80. Here it is:
