a little off topic, jhonk how do you keep the hardware on your old stored basses so neat, im having issues with pitting on my new basses... I keep them in a closed closet in my air conditioned room. Ive heard of applying nail polish to avoid pitting, is this true? got any tips...

i definitely wouldn't use nail polish.
it probably has something to do with the dry and stable so cal climate.

i've found one way to avoid further corrosion on metal parts is to use a little of Caig's 'Gold' dexoit on a soft microfiber cloth and wipe the nickel/chrome hardware, leaving a tiny bit of residue on it.

i thought the same thing, but i've seen 500/1's and 500/2's with alot different looking sunbursts too. i always attributed it to them just being hand sprayed by different painters on different days/years, using different blends of toners.

I saw that one too..... Its also about 20 minutes from me Its a really nice looking bass I think..

Thanks, Ill look into the Caig's 'Gold' dexoit... Its very humid down here by the way... On a related note my basses with black hardware dont seem to suffer the same fate...

Is there a battery clip attached to the plate?

The plate on my bass has two holes near the center. Any info would be helpful.

yep. the two screws attach a clip to secure the battery.

My clip is missing, I always thought that's what the plate/panel was for.
