A little advice?

What do you mean by black out?

Oops.. Meant to send more on that but it wouldn't go thru. (Slow Internet)

In 7th grade I would blackout and have no recollection of what had gone. I still can't remember most of my classes. A lot of that year consisted of wondering whether or not I had actually been to class. Hopefully this isn't happening to you. But one day the blackouts stopped.

I never went to go see a doctor about this. And it worries me that it may come back.

The point is, if you see a doc, it'll put your mind at ease. Not knowing the reason for your condition will only create stress. Play it safe, go see a doctor.

jesus, that must have been scary.

Hmmmmmmmmmm, so you noticed she seemed a bit incensed about something but never heard her ask for sex a dozen times, something doesnt seem right here, I,'ve never known a woman to verbally ask over and over for sex, I mean if they're really horned up they start snugglin and paw'n at you. If they have to ask more than once or twice with no response chances are you aint gettin any for awhile. Have you recieved a strong blow to the head recently ?

Look, it's OK if you're gay. We are an accepting bunch. What else explains the 18 year old male not getting aroused to even words that rhyme with sex let alone the 1st through 12th direct request? ;)

Seriously, GET OFF THE SMOKE!!! It won't make you any smarter or focus any better, that I can promise. Won't make you gay either, just mentioning.

Yes, and I know it's a likely culprit and plan to seriously cut back.

Okay now yo dawg check this out:

My best friend and I have been putting a band together again after 20 years. He has been smoking pot ALL HIS LIFE. A LOT.
Turns out he now has epilepsy and justifies it as a reason to smoke more.
Well, I called BS and did some net searching and what I found was that weed quelled seizures. Not coincidentally it was for people who SMOKED WEED ALL THEIR LIFE and then tried to quit.
Coincidence? I dont think so.
His epilepsy are often petit mal: spacing out and losing short-term memory. He can't remember hearing songs that he was dying to perform two days ago. He doesn't remember any of the texts he just sent me an hour ago. Do the math.

Look...I have no desire to interfere with anybody's lifestyle choices, but as someone who doesn't get high and is surrounded by people who do, I can certainly assure you: THAT **** IS CAUSING SERIOUS DAMAGE TO YOU NO MATTER WHAT ANY HERBAL HIPPIE TELLS YOU. If you think it will cure that cancer that you haven't developed yet, then by all means- go nuts. Bu I'm warning you and anyone else here right now.

Queue the NORML flamers.....but be warned that I oppose any and all drug legislation.

I've been doing some research, and doesn't the Short term memory loss associated with Marijuana only take effect when intoxicated?

Yes and no. Drugs effect people in different ways, only you can really say how marijuana effects you personally.

Marijuana use definitely does a number on my concentration, especially combined with sleep deprivation. It's less "memory loss" in my experience than it is "Huh, what? Oh, what was that, I wasn't listening" which seems to be what you are describing, only worse. (Zoning out more, short attention span, get distracted)

You mentioned that you started working more and smoking more before this stuff started to play up? Less sleep and more smoking seems like it will do it in my experience. Also you added a girlfriend to the mix too, those things will really mess you up!

Like people have said, try smoking less for a bit. Get more sleep, try not smoking for a bit before you sleep too, especially if you are tired, I always find that seems to diminish the effects of a good sleep to some effect (producing the exact results you are talking about, but normally only for a few hours after waking and not all the time). Try taking some vitamin supplements and stuff too as mentioned, omega oils I think you will find can make a huge difference.

My little brother has a lot of the symptoms you mention really. He doesn't smoke Marijuana at all (he's 13) but he does have ADD/ADHD. He's had a special diet to help manage it since he was a kid, now that he's more mature he's able to handle a lot of foods that would previously cause major difficulties in concentrating and that sort of thing, but he still finds that if he eats a few certain things or builds up a lot of certain foods over a few days he starts to really struggle with concentrating and paying attention to his surroundings, as well as staying on task.

Might be worth checking out if none of the other ideas help, salicylate sensitivity it's called, you may have it have just never known, a lot of people do. Salicylate is found in a huge amount of foods, in varying concentrations, some very high and some with almost none, it can be the cause or antagonist of all sorts of problems in people who have an allergy to it.

I think it's her... She's twisted, she never really asked you, your either gonna get killed dumped or married. Not sure

Hah, I can't say that this would surprise me. Seriously, she may have never actually asked you and was just messing with you in this case.

If it's a common problem you've noticed outside of this situation though, definitely worth trying a few things to see if it improves.

but be warned that I oppose any and all drug legislation.

Ever taken (pretty much) any form of medication? I'm sure asthmatics and diabetics appreciate your opposition to the legal status of the drugs that keep them alive..

Or were you referring to only the bad drugs?

Why do you feel you should try alternative methods before seeing your doctor? While I'm not nocking non-western medicine or herbal supplements the memory issues you mention sound serious and while they might be related to any increased use weed, they could be due to something else altogether. See your doc discuss your concerns and get his opinion about the alternative supliments you are considering taking.
