A pro setup makes all the difference!

I just got my bass back from being professionally set up at The Bass Place (Tempe, AZ).

It's like getting a new bass. It plays soooo good now. I'm glad I took it to a bass specific shop. There is a local music store that I could have taken it to but it's about 95% guitar stuff and I just felt that going there would not be as good. The Bass Place is ALL bass and I knew I would get done properly by people that work on basses all day.

Now I understand why people say get a professional setup on any bass you get. It's true!!!!

This is my bass. OLP MM3 5 string. A decent instrument but not with any kind of gear-snob appeal. The setup really made all the difference.

Benjamin Strange,

I bookmarked the site - BTW - great site. I loved reading about the repairs, etc.

Though I hate driving to and in the City, I'll make it right after Christmas. I just bought a used 5 string - a 2004 Ibanez SRX705NT - and it doesn't play like my other two 4 string basses - both MIA Fenders. It has kinda of a high action (as compared to the Fenders) and the strings (D'Addario Chromes) buzz a lot, though it cannot be heard through the amp/cabs. I tried setting in more relief and raising the saddles, which diminished the buzz, but I'm stuck with the higher action. It could be my technique too! I dig hard!

The bass is in great shape, but needs a Pro setup. Do I need an appointment and can I ask for you?

Thanks,
Vince

Setup's are huge.
I bought many a great bass cheap.
Because uninformed owner, thought bass was bad.
A good setup, make a fair bass good.
A bad setup, makes a great bass good.:p

This should be a sticky...

My luither/set up guy in integrated part of my life...That statement sounds really silly and over the top but its true...(Well not to mention I have known him since we where both really young).

You don't need an appointment - just stop by and we'll help you out. Turnaround is about a week.
