A question about running through a PC

I've read various methods on how to run a bass guitar through a PC and, it says to use a 1/4" to 3.5mm converter.

My question is, does it work visa versa, IE 3.5mm to 1/4", because I have one of those somewhere in one of my PC part boxes. Yeah I know, the jack adapters usually don't cost any more then 4 dollars, but, I'd hate to waste the gas and money if I already have something that'll work.

Thanks for helpin out :P

It seems like you're asking if the same two adapters will do the same thing.

You'll be set if the adapter has a 1/4" female jack on one end and a 3.5mm male plug on the other.

Alright, yeah it sounds a bit confusing, but I was just wondering if it'll work with either adapter. Just don't wanna blow out anything right now, XD

Anyways thanks :)
