Guys, it's not worth arguing with the OP. He obviously has fixed and unchangable views on picks, which he is entitled to, though in that case, why he started the thread in the first place, is beyond me.

Bingo. I try to stay up on both. I rarely use a pick but I practice with one anyway. Trying to avoid using one is like being a construction worker who hates hammers. Why wouldn't you want every tool you need available to you at work? I put a few on my mic stand every night and grab one a couple of times per show. It gives my pluckers a break and offers a different take on tone.

Grab a pick and keep on rockin!

I've only had one person ever say a word to me when I use a pick; and it was a 16 yr old guitarist who also couldn't figure out why I would ever play a fretless.

oh well, if the OP has a bias against picks live with the pain I guess. I see no reason to not use anything and everything available that works.
